Poland has not recorded the arrival of Ukrainian grain on its market for more than a year

Since the introduction of the ban on the import of agricultural products from Ukraine in 2023, the customs authorities of Poland have not recorded the admission of these goods to trade on the territory of the country, writes Farmer.pl.

This is stated in the letter of the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development of the Republic of Poland in response to the proposals of the Polish Association of Grain Producers to establish reference prices for Ukrainian grain.

"Since the introduction of the ban on the import of agricultural products from the territory of Ukraine to the territory of the Republic of Poland, the customs authorities have not detected the admission of these goods to trade on the territory of the country," says the letter of the Ministry of Agriculture of Poland.

The Polish Ministry noted that from mid-April 2023, there will be a ban on the import of wheat and corn into Poland, which caused problems on the market. This ban is valid indefinitely. The transit of these products through Poland is allowed, provided that it ends in Polish ports or outside the Republic of Poland. This process is controlled by the National Tax Administration of Poland.

Regarding the introduction of the reference price, the ministry noted that state bodies cannot regulate prices, as this contradicts, among other things, EU rules. In addition, the European Commission may initiate a process against Poland in the event that it introduces further unilateral actions to limit imports from Ukraine.

"In addition, such actions can also provoke retaliatory actions (formal or informal) from the side of Ukraine in the form of restrictions on imports from Poland. They may refer to goods important for our export to Ukraine (for example, dairy products)," the ministry noted.

We will remind you that yesterday, June 4, Polish protesters once again blocked the cargo section of the checkpoint "Rava-Ruska - Grebenne".

Also today, June 5, it became known that Polish farmers blocked another checkpoint "Medyka - Sheghini". It is reported that trucks from Ukraine are not allowed at all, and for departure from Poland - five trucks per hour.
