This week, a new mechanism for the import of fertilizers became operational

The Ministry of Agrarian Policy, in cooperation with the State Customs Service, developed a new method of importing fertilizers, which came into effect this week. This was announced by the Minister of Agrarian Policy and Food of Ukraine Mykola Solskyi, writes Ukrinform.

According to the new mechanism, all imported fertilizers are classified into three risk groups:

those that are not produced in Russia and, therefore, cannot be of Russian origin;

those with a limited risk of Russian origin;

and those with a high risk of Russian origin.

Customs will focus its checks mainly on the third group. At the same time, if there are documents confirming the origin of fertilizers, in particular, a direct contract from a producer not from Russia, additional checks will not be carried out.

Customs also plans to abandon general laboratory checks and switch to document checks. According to the minister, this mechanism should be implemented starting this week.

We will remind you that as of January 15, 2024, at least 12,000 tons of mineral fertilizers from 20 different consignments headed to Ukraine by ships, railways and motor vehicles were blocked at customs without clear reasons and in violation of the norms of the Customs Code.

Meanwhile, traders are confident that customs can check "Russian traces" in fertilizers without blocking importers.
