By the way, US agriculture global columnist Karen Brown predicts that US farmers will reduce corn plantings in favor of soybeans. Corn planting is expected to total 91.77 million acres in 2024, down 3% from 2023.

Also, US farmers continue to sow spring wheat (3%), barley (5%) and sugar beets (2%).

Meanwhile, 476.7 thousand hectares of grain and leguminous crops were sown in Ukraine at the end of March. Sowing of sunflower and soybeans has also started. Khmelnytskyi farmers have started sowing corn for grain.

The share of winter wheat crops, which are in good and excellent condition, remained at the level of the previous week and is 56%. This is the highest indicator for the indicated period since 2020. As of the same date in 2023, the indicated indicator was only 27%:

in excellent condition — 8% (in 2023 — 3%);

in a good way — 48% (24%);

satisfactory — 32% (36%);

bad — 8% (20%);

very bad — 4% (17%).
