As part of Grain from Ukraine, Ukraine sent wheat to Sudan

A consignment of wheat from Ukraine, sent within the framework of the Grain from Ukraine initiative, arrived in Sudan. This is reported on the website of the World Food Program of the United Nations (WFP).

"Ukrainian grain has arrived at the port of Port Sudan and is being unloaded for emergency distribution in the war-torn country. This food aid will be the main part of the food rations for the one million people affected by the conflict in Sudan," the UN WFP press release notes. It is expected that the delivered grain will be enough for a month.

As noted, the delivery was made within the framework of the humanitarian initiative Grain from Ukraine. It became possible thanks to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Germany, which covered all operating costs in the amount of 15 million euros.

"This aid has come at a critical moment in the hunger crisis in Sudan," the UN WFP said, noting that hostilities in the country are spreading and food is becoming increasingly scarce, especially given the forecast of a poor harvest season.

As noted, 7,600 tons of wheat flour will be provided to families in Sudan, many of whom have fled their homes due to hostilities and are daily faced with the problem of meeting their urgent needs.
