Almost a third of enterprises suffer from a lack of workers

The main obstacles to doing business in wartime are rising prices for raw materials, difficulties with their transportation, a decrease in demand for goods, and a lack of labor. This is evidenced by the results of the survey of enterprises "Ukrainian business during the war" for April 2023, writes biz.liga.net.

As noted, the economic situation at enterprises improved in April, the expectations of enterprise managers are positive, but less optimistic than a month ago.

Rising prices for raw materials and goods remain the biggest obstacle for business. As a month ago, 68% of respondents said this.

Interruptions with electricity, water or heat supply compared to March had less impact on the work of enterprises and moved to the sixth place on the list (29% in April against 46% a month earlier).

Logistics problems were noted by 43% of respondents. Complications with the transportation of raw materials rose to second place compared to March.

According to company managers, it was less dangerous to work in April. This was said by 25% of respondents in April, compared to 31% in March.

Almost a third of enterprises complain about the lack of labor due to conscription and/or going abroad. This indicator remains unchanged — 31% against 30% a month earlier.

Meanwhile, the Government has changed the procedure for booking conscript workers. In particular, the Ministry of Economy must make a decision on the reservation of conscripts within a period of no more than 5 working days.

The list of critical industry enterprises that can book employees was also expanded. Manufacturers of veterinary drugs and elevators were added to the list.
